* Cycling helmets & First Aid kits are compulsory. Helmets must be warn at all times.
* The Mountain Bike Code must be followed at all times, using footpaths or open moorland - even for carrying - will result in DISQUALIFICATION.
* You should not do anything that you would consider cheating if someone else did it. Marshals will disqualify those taking an unfair advantage. The organisers do not object to leaving your bike and running.
* Pairs must remain in contact ( 50m ) at all times and BOTH members of a team must visit checkpoints ( penalty is 25% of total score ).
* YOU MUST REPORT TO THE FINISH EVEN IF YOU RETIRE - competitors who cause an unnecessary search could be faced with a bill!
* Competitors must close all gates, pass or overtake walkers and horses slowly and courteously. Treat the rural community with due respect and aim to cause no damage to the trails.
* You MUST NOT use rights of way or enter areas designated as Out Of Bounds. Only the area of the event map is to be used.
EQUIPMENT
- A roadworthy and well maintained bicycle is essential.
- Simple tools and a puncture repair kit is recommended
- Enough food and drink for the event should be carried.
- A first aid kit of at least a dressing or crepe bandage and plasters.
- Most event areas include high and exposed moorland, carrying waterproof top and bottoms is recommended but will only be compulsory in the event of bad weather ( notice will be posted on the day ) come prepared.
Enjoy yourself, refreshments are usually available in the local pub, see event organiser for directions if you have lost your way.
Prizes will be awarded as soon as possible after the last rider returns.
